TECH TALK

"If you look at Nigeria, with a population of 210 million forecast to grow significantly, all of these kids are going to go to school and, because it’s the 21st century, presumably learn how to code. It’s not reasonable to expect each user session to run in a Docker image somewhere. Nigeria probably doesn’t have infrastructure for that scale."

From Cloud Native To AI Native: Where Are We Going?

Has the cloud native era now fully morphed into the AI-native era? If so, what does that mean for the future of both cloud native and AI technology? These are the questions a panel of experts took up at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America in Atlanta earlier this month. Tune in to catch the insights!

Greetings from Las Vegas and the Multicloud Multiverse

The fall tech conference season is winding up, with The New Stackers covering the mammoth AWS re:Invent this week. Some of the big news coming out of Las Vegas this week could have a particular impact on organizations that deploy to multiple clouds. AWS and Google have collaborated on a standard that lets users easily bridge their cloud deployments through Layer 3 connectivity.

“The idea, according to both companies, is to make it easy for their customers with cloud operations in both clouds to network them together in a private network, reducing the burden of maintaining multicloud connectivity, and perhaps even dispelling fears of cloud lock-in,” writes TNS Senior Editor Joab Jackson.

The two cloud giants are also encouraging their competitors to join their effort. It adds up to a recognition that more organizations these days are embracing multicloud environments, for any number of reasons: cost, resilience, etc.

Other re:Invent news included updates to Amazon’s Nova foundation models, and the introduction of three AI frontier agents — Kiro, AWS Security Agent and AWS DevOps Agent, that AWS says “can run for hours or days without intervention, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work toward broad goals rather than requiring step-by-step direction.”

Check out more AWS re:Invent news — and news from elsewhere — on The New Stack. We get around.
